SEO: Linking Strategies For Your Site

Linking is not such a simple process. While there are still many webmasters and SEO experts implying that the more links pointing to your site, the higher rankings in Google and other search engines, this is not entirely true. It doesn't really matter how many links you have, if they are not valuable links.

What determines the value of a link? The value of a link to your site is given by the value of the website pointing at it. For example, if you have a link on an industry-related, PR 7 or higher, website that could bring your website a boost and a higher PR (page rank) as well. Note the "industry related" aspect. You don't need to collect links and linking partners to improve search engine placements. This will come naturally after you create a network of related links that will bring valuable information for the users. A network of related links will bring you targeted traffic as well.

Stay away from link farms. Google doesn't like bulk or automated linking. However, if a link farm is linking to you that will be OK, as long as you are not linking back. Solely linking back to bad neighbors (link farms and penalized websites) could really get your site banned. You should always check back to your link partners and see whether their websites were penalized or not. A simple way to see that is to look at the Google toolbar where the Page Rank of a website is usually displayed. If that element is completely gray, you should remove the back link to the affected website from your website immediately.

You should also avoid linking to sites that don't link back to you. Unless these sites provide content that is really important for your visitors, let's say for a better understanding of the nature of your business, you should not link to them. When you link to another site, you give this site a percentage of your Page Rank.

Another very important aspect in linking strategy is writing links. Never use "click here" for your onsite links. Your visitors will mentally answer, "make me" and move on. You should write links that are meaningful, explain what the link offers and make sense even when read out of context. When you transform entire paragraphs into a link your visitors will get confused.

When you submit your link to web directories and partner sites, don't always use the same title and description. Try, as much as possible to write different titles and link descriptions for each directory and partner site. Both titles and descriptions should be keyword rich, but not stuffed with keywords. Keep the link title as short as possible – 30 to 60 characters, depending where you submit your link, and the description not more than 130 characters, including spaces. The shorter the description, the clearer your message will be. If each link that points to your site has unique content, the search engines will treat it as important and consider it for indexing. Search engines do have the tendency of excluding from their results links with similar content. You are probably familiar with the Google's follow up phrase "repeat the search with the omitted results included".

If you don't want Google and the search engines to exclude some of your links from the results, give them a reason not to. Build up a good linking strategy as part of your SEO campaign.

Using Blogs For Affilate And Adsense Profits Combined

How do you set up a blog for effective affilate and Adsense profits? Here is the low down of how it's done and some of the ins and outs of rss. For this example I will use web hosting as the affilate product we selling on the blog.
1. Rss is great for getting the robots to visit but it will not get you visitors until:
- You have quite a number of pages
- Have decent page rank.
2. Best blog platform -- http://www.wordpress.org
3. Blog page - index page.
- A two column blog I find works the best
- The sidebar should be on the right hand of the page for SEO purposes
- Heading for your affiliate reviews shouls be first... something like "In-Depth, Top 5 Cheap Hosting Reviews". Two links underneath, one going to reviews and the other to "why our reviews are more relaible than other sites".
4. Reviews of your products. 4 to 10 reviews, make them long and give info of what benefits one product has over the other and a rating for different aspects. Do not put adsense on your reviews page. This site does it really well - http://www.keywordworkshop.com/ and it's a blog to boot.
5. Next heading in the sidebar - "Articles". A link going to current articles followed by a search box for your articles. Each article page is where you Adsense sits and here are some good tips:
- All links including Adsense, one color underlined
- Research has shown the normal blue and darker blue gets the best hits
- Adsense in the middle and at the end of all your articles... you will get less click troughs with Adsense in the borders.
6. Next heading "contact Me" Blurb... A little confused with all the info, so many choices or an aspect of one of "hosting reviews" (linked to your review page... feel free drop me an email any time... blah blah Then more headings after this is you wish... "My fav top ten hosting tips articles"... "Top 5 Domain Name Website Reviews"? and so on. The way I see it, is if they are customers coming for information on a given product, service or business area, why not stick some products up and make some more money! If they are just interested in the articles monetize those with Adsense. And then if for any reason you have a bad Adsense month, the affilate income is there as a backup.
The final tip is to keep your blogs clean so people can easily find the information they are looking for whether that be a product or articles.

Make Money Writing Articles And Submitting Them

One of the best ways to drive traffic to your website is to use a method known as Article Submission. How does this work? Well just like the site you are on right now there are 100's more just like it where people can submit and read articles. When you submit your article to these Article Sites you have the ability to include a short bio at the end. In this bio you can include something about yourself and a link to your website. When people read your article some of them will go to your link.
Something that a lot of people don't know is that there are other programs that go to the article submission sites and grab the articles there to use as content on there website. Included is your link. So now you have your article all over the web driving traffic to your site.
The first thing you need to know is you don't have to know anything about the topic in order to write an article. You can get all the information you need right on the article sites, read them and put it in your own words. You can take several articles and put the peices together in your own words.
The title is very important. Using words in the title that capture the readers attention will get more people to read your article which in turn will get more people to go to your site.
In your bio use words that will spark the interest of the reader to click on the link and get people to your website.
Article submission can be done several ways. One way is to manually submit your articles to each of the hundreds of sites on the web. To do it this way will take a lot of time. The second way is to purchase article submission software like is included in The Article Money System. You put in your information including the bio and it will submit it to 100's of submission sites much quicker than you can do manually.
A quick way to get started writing your articles is to use Private Label Articles. Private Label articles are articles written by other authors that when purchase give you the right to use or resell in any way you see fit. You can use these articles and rewrite them in your own words give it a new unique title and submit them to the article sites.
You now have all the knowledge needed to start writing your own articles and submitting them to the Article Submission sites and driving massive amounts of traffic to your website at the same time. Good luck!

Why Your Website Is Failing?

Why your website is failing? I notice many of the same mistakes. Here are twelve of the most common:
1. The site has no focus. A website should be designed with its primary purpose in mind. You should have ONE thing that you'd really like most visitors to your page to do. Almost everything on that page should lead the visitors toward deciding to take that primary action. Nothing on the page should distract them and "lead them off down other trails."
Common primary actions that you'll want your visitor to take are to join your list, buy your product, download a free trial version, or join an online community. Make sure that you know what you want your visitors to focus on, and get rid of the other distractions. It's been proven that if you give your visitors too many choices, or confuse them, they will simply choose to leave!
2. The site has no email capture mechanism. Most honest copywriters will tell you that in most Internet marketing type niches, a 1-2% response rate to a sales letter is VERY respectable. You've worked very hard to get visitors to your site, and if you completely ignore the 98% who don't buy you're not going to be in business very long.
Incorporate a form into your website that gets them into an autoresponder so that you can follow-up with them. Offer them a free report, access to an MP3 on the topic, or access to an exclusive community. Get them to opt-in, and then you can follow up with them on their topic of interest.
Your opt-in form can be set up "in-line" as a part of the webpage, and even take them back to the point on the webpage where they were reading before they stopped to opt-in. You can also have an exit popup, or pop-under, that offers them a freebie as they're leaving your site. Once they've decided to leave, you'll probably NEVER see them again unless you have a way to invite them back. An autoresponder is the perfect way to do this automatically.
3. The owner is "hiding behind the website." Web surfers are skeptical and distrusting. You need to let them know that there is a real person behind the site. Give them contact information, show them your photo, and even let them hear you. You can easily add audio or video to your website, and allow it to "touch" your visitor on such a deeper level. When people hear your voice or see you talking, and get to watch your body language, you communicate so much more effectively than just the written word.
To add audio to your website, all you need is a microphone plugged into your computer. To add video to your website, all you really need is a webcam plugged into your computer. There are services that will take this audio or video, allow you to edit it with a few clicks of your mouse, and then stream it from their servers or upload it to your server.
A totally amazing service that I use is called Audio Acrobat. I use it to have customers, subscribers, etc., call in and leave testimonials. I use it to record some teleseminars, interviews, product recommendations, and for dozens of other purposes. I do record video from my webcam to this service too. You can also upload video recorded on a regular video camera to this service, and then stream it from their website.
4. Offering the wrong payment options. The majority of Internet users prefer to pay via credit card. If your product allows you to do it, and still make a satisfactory profit, consider taking orders through an answering service or call center, via fax, via snail mail, and through third party processors such as Paypal as well. Evaluate each of these options and decide which of these make sense for you. As an aside, I once considered even offering my customers the option to order C.O.D (cash on delivery). My local postmaster strongly suggested that I NOT do that and also pointed out that it's almost never done these days. He convinced me that it was more trouble than it was worth.
5. Not offering proof of statements. It's natural for you to say how great you and your product are. Therefore, that means nothing to potential customers. Get other to share how your product improved their lives. Use media interviews, and statements by officials in professional organizations, to provide third-party validation.
Testimonials with photos, audio, or video, are very powerful. Testimonials with just a set of initials, or a with just a first name, have NO credibility.
6. The owner of the site offers no credentials. The very first question I ask when reading a magazine article, watching a television show, or reading a web page, is "What makes this person qualified to teach ME this topic." Most web surfers don't trust you, and believe that most Internet sites are out to rip them off. You need to show them that your experience and training makes you qualified to teach them the topic. In addition to formal credentials a professional looking website also shows that you are a serious business person. Don't skimp on your website’s design!
7. Using the wrong or too many fonts. When you use different sizes and colors of letters on your webpage you need to have a real reason. When you highlight or underline text on your webpage you need to have a logical reason.
As your site visitor reads your webpage, he will subconsciously ask himself why you emphasized a certain word or sentence on the page. If you had no logic reason, you pull him out of your message as his mind “wrestles with the why."
You page should be structured such that a “skimmer” could just read the headlines and sub headlines and get the message. He should be able to read just the highlighted text and get the gist of your webpage. He should be able to just go to the bottom of the page, read the "P.S." where you've restated your offer, and order without being forced to read the rest of the page... if he's in a hurry.
8. Using header graphics that distract from the message. Your header graphic should spell out or emphasize the main benefit of your product. It should be simple enough that the visitor is not forced to waste time trying to decipher its meaning.
Sometimes, it's better not to even have a header graphic. This is something you should test. You want to get your visitor reading the text on your page, and discovering how your product can help him, as soon as practical. This is what will sell him... not cute or fancy graphics.
9. Not focusing on benefits rather than features. Don't tell your visitor how great the product is, tell him how it will improve his life. Your testimonials should also provide concrete, and very specific, examples of how it improved someone else's life.
10. Focusing on "I" rather than "you!". Look at your webpage and make sure that it talks about the customer and his problem more than it talks about you, your company, and your products. Your customers don't really care about you. They care about how you can help them! Read through you copy and make sure that it answers that question. Make sure that you're not talking about yourself too much, and that when you do talk about yourself, it's answering the question of how you can help the reader.
11. Not emphasizing the guarantee. When a customer purchases with a credit card, or through certain third-party processors, the guarantee is implied anyway. So, why not make your guarantee a selling point? If a customer goes to Visa or MasterCard and states that they are unhappy with their purchase from you, they will get their money back in most cases... and you'll pay an extra fee for the "chargeback." If a customer goes to Clickbank or Paypal with a complaint, they will end up issuing a refund in many cases.
Make it easy on yourself by offering and honoring a guarantee. It will increase your conversion rate, and unless your product is total JUNK, it won't increase your refund rate.
12. Not using a P.S. Many busy surfers will jump right to the end of your webpage and read the P.S.(s). If they were somewhat pre-sold before they arrived at your page, many will go ahead and purchase at that time. Use the P.S.(s) to restate your offer, emphasize the guarantee, showcase your bonuses, and to emphasize any scarcity factor in the offer.

The bottom line is that, if your sales page is horrific, it's pointless to drive traffic to the site. Fix the page before you do anything else, or you're just wasting time and frustrating yourself.
A well-written webpage is so pivotal to the sales process, that many professional copywriters will often rewrite bad sales letters. When they discover great products that they KNOW would sell if the products’ owners just had better copy, they will often rewrite bad sales letters, pre-sell the products, and then send the "ready-to-buy" customers directly to the order form.

Fix the 12 common errors covered above, and your website will be more effective than 99% of direct sales websites out there. Don't fix these mistakes, and your sales won't increase, but at-least now you will understand why.

The Importance Of Marketing Your Site

Many people today have been thrilled of having their own websites. And that is certainly good! However, what is the use of havin a website if nobody sees it or knows about it? If you have built a web site for the sake of simply making your ego grow, that would probably be good. But if your website was originally planned as an online store or as an information site, it would certainly be uselless if nobody, except you and your limited number of friends and family members perhaps, knows about it!
Having a website is just the start of making an online presence. It is probably just like your home adress. For people to know where you live, you need to tell them your address or post your address in a directory. Having a website store is also similar to having your own business address where you need to inform everybody else where your business office is so they can find you ! If marketing is an important tool in a successful brick-and-mortar business (meaning businesses which are not involved in e-commerce), online marketing is also very important in the success of your e-commerce business!
Online marketing is a very cost effective method of bringing in prospective customers to your website or e-commerce business. This includes search engine optomization, email marketing, affiliate marketing, and a lot more. On the other hand, offline marketing can also bring in qualified visitors to your site by posting your web address on your business cards, newspaper ads, promotional materials, and more. But offline method may not be as cost effective as online marketing.
Because we are now in the information technology age, many people have now made millions through the internet - and that includes Bill Gates! The owners of Google started Google as simply a home business, now what is it? - it's a multi-billion dollar business. Yes, doing your business on the internet also requires work, in fact, lots of work! And this also includes lots of patience to be successful. While there are some people whom we can call the exceptional ones because they made it successfully on the web, there are also those who failed and simply blame online business as a scam! If you wish to be an internet entrepreneur, which of these two groups would you like to belong?
So, if you have all the excitement of building your own website, and you'd like more people to know about it other than your small circle of friends, it is certainly best to make a sound online marketing strategy. By applying online marketing to your site, you will be able to bring in more visitors to your site with the potential of making profits out of them doing business with your site.
Remember, a site with no visitors or traffic to it will always be doomed to failure.
